About Green Mountain

Green Mountain is a large subdivision on the west side of Lakewood. As its name implies, homes are spread across the rolling flanks of the Green Mountain hillside.

In a 15 minute drive, Lakewood residents can enjoy all the cultural amenities that Denver offers. With a population of over 142,000 people in 45 square miles, Lakewood still has plenty of open space.

In 2004, Lakewood residents will see the completion of Belmar District, the city's new downtown, near Alameda Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. Belmar is designed for every dimension of daily life: home, office, shops, galleries, restaurants, outdoor cafes, movies and even parks and plazas.

Facilities in Green Mountain

Green Mountain Park is the second largest park in the City of Lakewood, covering approximately 2400 acres of open space. The park is open to all users at no fee.

The steep terrain includes a challenging system of multiple-use trails and breathtaking views of the Metropolitan Denver area and the dramatic Front Range of the Rocky Mountains from the 6800-foot summit. Three peaks above 14,000 feet also are viewable. The park provides a unique venue in an urban setting for many recreational opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and paragliding. It is located on the far Western edge of the City of Lakewood at the edge of the foothills between US 70 and Colorado C470.

Lakewood is part of Jefferson County which has a 600 mile-long trail system that is number one on the list of top ten trail system communities in the U.S. according to the American Hiking Society. In fact, there are over 7,000 acres of open space and over 80 miles of hiking and biking trails. The award winning trail system includes parts of the Colorado Trail and the American Discovery Trail.

Additionally, living in Lakewood offers easy access to world class skiing in the resorts 70-100 miles west of the city. Lakewood residents can enjoy five of the finest golf courses in the metro area. Bear Creek Golf Club, Foothills Golf Course, Green Gables Country Club, and Lakewood Country Club and The Fox Hollow Golf Course.
