About Golden

Located 15 miles west of Denver, the City of Golden is nestled in a beautiful valley between the Table Mountains in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Golden and its neighborhoods offer a mix of properties from the turn of both the 20th and 21st Century.

Golden is the county seat for Jefferson County, and is home to The Coors Brewery, the National Renewable Energy Labs, The National Earthquake Center, the American Alpine Center and the Colorado School of Mines.

Living in the Golden area offers an abundance of recreational opportunities year round including hiking, biking, skiing (downhill and Nordic), kayaking, golfing, camping and fishing.

The Golden Community Center is a 55,000 square foot multifunction recreation facility which opened on October 1, 1994. The Center offers a variety of recreation and leisure programs to all age groups from tots to older adults.

Golden’s main street has a variety of stores, galleries, historic buildings, and fine restaurants. Other attractions include the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, a Railroad Museum, Heritage Square, Boettcher Mansion, Hiwan Homestead, and the Buffalo Bill Museum located on top of Lookout Mountain.

The community is served by five major highways,including Interstate 70, Colorado 470, and U.S. Highway 6, which provide a direct route to Denver,Boulder and the Mountains.The Golden area offers excellent shopping as well as some exceptional restaurants.
