About Brighton ColoradoBrighton is a suburb of Denver, but freestanding from other suburbs, with a population of 22,000. Brighton is primarily a rural community surrounded by rich farmland and prairie. Located between Highways I-76 and 85 on Highway 7, Brighton is less than a 30 minute commute to downtown Denver or Interlocken in Broomfield, and 10 miles from Denver International Airport. Brighton is located on the banks of the South Platte River. Due to Brighton's close proximity to Denver and the Airport, and the upcoming completion of E-470, it has recently attracted more attention and development. There are several new home developments, with a wide range of housing types and prices available, and some starting in the $130,000's. Many choices are available for those looking for horse properties or acreage. Despite its easy access to downtown Denver and Denver International Airport, it has retained its small town atmosphere. Brighton was founded in the 1870's as a stage/railroad depot and farming community, and was originally named Hughes Station. The city was incorporated in 1887 and named after Brighton Beach, New York. Pioneers settled Brighton in the Gold Rush Days of the 1860's and due to the rich agricultural land surrounding it, it has become a thriving agricultural and truck farming community. Brighton is the county seat of Adams County with a new $30 million courthouse. Major employers include Adams County, Kmart Distribution Center, Platte Valley Medical Center, and Sakata Farms. The North Metro Denver area has a number of cities including: Westminster, Broomfield, Thornton, Federal Heights, Northglenn, and Brighton. They are all clean, well-planned, friendly and comfortable communities. Facilities in Brighton
